Michael Jackson has issued a statement saying he will not participate in a Jackson 5 reunion in 2009.

“My brothers and sisters have my full love and support, and we’ve certainly shared many great experiences, but at this time I have no plans to record or tour with them,” he said. “I am now in the studio developing new and exciting projects that I look forward to sharing with my fans in concert soon.”

The statement comes in response to his brother Jermaine Jackson’s recent comments at a TV industry function in Sydney, where the musician said the Jackson 5 has plans to reunite next year.

Jermaine Jackson was in Australia yesterday (Oct. 29) to help launch a new “greatest hits” TV channel for Foxtel. “This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together,” he told the Australian Associated Press.

“It is just the timing, so what we’ve been doing is working on the music and all the logistics. It is going to be more like a family affair, Janet’s going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 … Michael, Randy and the whole family … We’re in the studio, we’re planning on being out there next year.”

The Jacksons received a lifetime achievement award from BMI in early September in Los Angeles, but brother Marlon made no secret of his displeasure with Michael’s absence at the ceremony.

Asked where Jackson was, he told the Associated Press, “I don’t know. I think he’s in Egypt riding a camel or something.”

The Jacksons rose to fame in the late ’60s recording for Motown. Brother Michael had become a solo star by the late ’70s, although he remained in the group through the 1984 album “Victory.” One last release, 1989’s “2300 Jackson Street,” featured limited involvement by him and Marlon.

David Beckham the ogler strikes again!

The football star was spotted soaking up the view from his front-row seats at an NBA game at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles yesterday.

While his favourite team the LA Lakers took on the Portland Trailblazers, it was the off-court action that really caught his attention.

He was spotted eyeing up the scantily-clad cheerleading team between quarters – and not for the first time.

In April, he was caught leering at a cheerleader at that same venue.

It was no coincidence that a week later, Victoria Beckham stepped in as chaperone, ensuring it was eyes front.

But free from the careful watch of his wife yesterday, it appears Beckham couldn’t resist a cheeky peek or two at the hotpant-wearing dance troupe.

It will perhaps come as cold comfort to Posh, who is bracing for David’s move to Italian side AC Milan.

Beckham has told reporters that he has his wife’s full support after it was revealed that his family will remain in America while he returns to Europe.

But magazine reports claim that Victoria does have some concerns about David being so far away in the glamorous Italian city.

The last time David was separated from his family for a long period – in 2004 when he was playing for Real Madrid – there were allegations of an affair with his then personal assistant, Rebecca Loos.

At last night’s premiere of Soul Men, Ice-T and his wife Coco would not reveal what they would be dressing as for Halloween, but one thing was certain — for Coco, this would be a very naked night. “It’s my day! I get to get naked! Finally!!!” Coco squealed, as Ice looked on proudly. “You know, a lot of people comment, but some chicks like to be wild,” Ice said in his wife’s defense. “You come home and they’re standing on the couch and they want to jump at you and tackle you. US actor Joaquin Phoenix, a two-time Oscar nominee, announced his intention to bring an end to his film career and dedicate his time to music.

“I want to take this opportunity… also to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor… I’m not doing films anymore,” he told the “Extra” television programme.

He said Tuesday he would now focus on music, without giving details.

The latest film of Phoenix, 34, is “Two Lovers,” a romantic drama starring him and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson “remained strong for her family” when she identified the body of her murdered seven-year-old nephew, a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office has revealed.

Hudson said, “Yes, that’s him,” when she was shown the face of Julian King on a wall-mounted video screen. She entered the room with her head bowed but “remained strong for her family,” said the spokesman. “It was very clear that she was the leader. She held hands with her family. It was obviously a very emotional moment.”

The actress, who won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls, had offered a $100,000 dollar reward on Sunday for the safe return of her nephew, which was accompanied by an emotional plea from the boy’s mother, Julia. He was reported missing on Friday, after Hudson’s mother and brother had been found shot dead in their home. Julian’s body was found on Monday, also shot dead, in his uncle’s white SUV, which had been stolen on the day of the shootings, 14 miles from the family home in Englewood on Chicago’s South Side.
