The ‘American Idol’ winner, who wears the band on her left ring finger to show she won’t have sex before marriage, has spoken out against promiscuous teenagers.

She said: “I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring, because not everybody - guy or girl - wants to be a slut.”

Jordin, 18, made the passionate speech at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles last night, after the show’s host Russell Brand ridiculed the Jonas Brothers for wearing purity rings.

The British comic, who claimed the young musicians should be using their celebrity status to date, later apologised for his comments, saying: “I didn’t meant to take it lightly. I don’t want to piss off teenage fans.”

He added cheekily: “Promise rings, I’m well up for it. But a bit of sex, it never hurt anybody.”

Earlier this year, Jordin was romantically linked to R’n'B singer-songwriter Steph Jones.

Carrie Underwood Matches Rimes’ Country Debut Sales Record…. Carrie Underwood has become only the second country star to reach score six million sales with a debut album.

The former American Idol winner’s first release, Some Hearts, was certified sextuple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (Riaa) last week (ends18May07).

Underwood’s feat is only matched by LeAnn Rimes’ 1996 album Blue.

The Jesus Take The Wheel singer’s hit album, which was released in November, 2005 has spent a total of 26 weeks at number one of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

Last week was a good one for Underwood - as well as claiming her new Riaa accolade, the singer also claimed three trophies at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Kenny Chesney picked up his third consecutive “Entertainer of the Year” trophy and Brad Paisley picked up his very first “Male Vocalist Award” Tuesday night at the Academy of Country Music Awards .

The real buzz, however, was Carrie Underwood, who snagged three trophies and more importantly, snagged a date — Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo.

Rumors of Underwood dating Romo began circulating on Christmas when the country cutie was spotted in a suite at the Cowboys, Eagles football game. Game broadcasters said she was there at the invitation of the star quarterback…….

A few weeks later, Underwood denied the rumors.

She had said, “The first time we met was on Christmas and it just kind of took on its own life from there. You know any girl that could date him would be very lucky, but it’s not me.”

It was just last month that Underwood told Cosmo magazine she has a hard time finding a date.

Just days later, she walked the CMT red carpet solo.

News 2: “Now, we recently read you have a hard time getting a date… So, you’re solo tonight?”
Underwood: “I am solo tonight my dog is in the dressing room so I guess he could be considered my date. Hehas a little tuxedo I thought about putting it on him and having him walk the red carpet with me but I might get made fun of.”

Just a few days later, People magazine said Underwood and Romo “looked very cozy” at his birthday bash in Texas.

That is when Underwood’s publicist admitted the two “have recently been spending a little time together.”

It looks like the two have now a sealed deal as they walked the red carpet, posed for pictures at the ACM Awards. Romo even gave Underwood a little kiss on the cheek.

Fans Sarah and Amy like the idea.

“I like the crossover of the athletesand singers or actresses and athletes I think that’s really cool and I’m surprised it doesn’t happen a lot more.”

The girls also said Romo better “’Think, Before He Cheats’ or at least don’t tell her where he parked the car.”

Romo has been romantically linked to Jessica Simpson in the past, so he must like blond singers.

The questionably gifted but clearly popular Sanjaya Malakar easily survived another elimination on the hit show American Idol on Wednesday after a performance even irascible judge Simon Cowell conceded “wasn’t horrible”.

Fans instead chose Haley Scarnato, from San Antonio, to go home when she scored the fewest votes among viewers of the nationally televised talent contest. Host Ryan Seacrest said the more than 35 million votes cast represented the season’s highest tally.

Malakar, who has emerged as the show’s star, particularly since radio host Howard Stern exhorted his listeners to vote for the 17-year-old, whose wacky hairdos on the show have been as inconsistent as his performances, was again not among the bottom three.

His rendition of Besame Mucho on the Latin-themed edition, which included a guest appearance by Jennifer Lopez, was among his best-received in recent weeks.

The judges opined his singing was “really good”, smart and smooth, with Cowell saying it pained him to concede the Washington resident’s crooning “wasn’t horrible”.

American Idol’s music director has said he thinks Malakar could well win the whole thing. “I think he could win the show,” Ricky Minor told the New York Post this week. “People are pulling for him. … I can tell you he can sing. He’s a handsome guy, and is really likable. People are pulling for him.”

This week’s other two bottom-scoring finalists, included Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey, but both survived to become one of the final seven of the competition.

To hear American Idol winner and current country music superstar Carrie Underwood tell it, she may never get a date. Carrie has been linked to Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo in several different reports but the gorgeous and talented blonde bombshell singer tells Cosmopolitan in its May issue that she’s shy and “horrible around guys” – and hasn’t had a serious relationship since she split with college boyfriend Drake Clark in 2005.

People magazine notes that the Hollywood gossip factor isn’t helping her love life at all, according to Underwood. “Guys who would never look at me twice before might ask me out now, so I guess I have better opportunities,” she says. “But when I do meet a guy, there’s this ‘Does he just want his picture in a magazine?’ factor.”

People notes that Underwood has been spotted recently with British singer Oliver Trevena, Cosmo notes, but she denies she ever dated fellow Idol contestant Anthony Federov or Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

Side note: She was linked with Romo after she was seen at a Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day , but Romo himself told reporters: “We’re friends. She’s a very nice, sweet girl, I care for her and whoever ends up with her will be a very lucky guy.”

Romo also told an Illinois paper that they were dating in late December. Illinois Times-Courier sports editor Brian Nielsen told In Touch Weekly last year, “After I asked him all my usual football questions, I said, ‘My wife really wants to know if the Jessica Simpson dating rumors are true.’ ” “He laughed and replied, ‘No. Tell her I’m dating Carrie Underwood.’”

A young attractive girl named Antonella Barba took a lot of pressure off of the contestants when she was encompassed in a scandal when photos of her slammed on to the Internet with a vengeance. The 20-year old beauty handled it well, but alas she was eliminated and then the spotlight was back on the contest. That didn’t work well as the talent is so one-sided the show has turned to mocking Sanjaya Malakar. But just a few well placed photos by former American Idol contestant Alaina Alexander have now turned the buzz back to the Internet and away from the contest.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact it is a good move. One can only guess that since the singer splashed up photos that show her nude in three different poses, and in a swimsuit in others, her traffic has increased to her page.

And frankly, though her timing would have been money if she had her MySpace page ready while she was in the contest, she has created a good way to get folks to give her music a listen while they search for her photos. And anything that takes the buzz off looking at Sanjaya’s ridiculous performances is a very good thing.

Katharine McPhee showed off her assets in this cute midnight blue dress at a Hollywood’s Tightest Bodies party last night. The party, sponsored by Self Magazine, of which Katherine is April’s cover model, and VH1, was to celebrate the upcoming TV special on the Tight Bodied Stars. Katharine has clearly come a long way with her self image, and it’s great to see her out supporting healthy living. She looked like she had a blast partying the night away with fellow revelers Eve, Molly Sims and Vanessa Minnillo.

The success of Indian-American Sanjaya Malakar in the popular show American Idol has generated a lot of heat here with one of the judges threatening to quit if he wins the crown.

Some media reports have also suggested that Malakar has reached the final 11 of the competition more for his youth appeal and being of Indian descent than his singing talent. He has interesting hair. This much, everyone seems to agree on. But, for the most part, that’s where the praise for the youngest Idol contestant ends.

“Even though he has yet to deliver a convincing performance in the live competition, he continues to stave off elimination, much to the shock of the Idol judges and sometimes even Malakar himself,” a write-up posted on the aol TV website said.

One of the theories floating around is that of the support he is getting from radio jockey Howard Stern. Stern has been advising his fans to vote in jest for the first contestant of Indian descent to make it into the show’s top 11.

He is getting a boost from all of the employees in India whose jobs were outsourced by US phone companies, Stern claims. Simon Cowell, one of the judges in the competition, has even threatened to resign if Malakar is the winner.

A woman on Myspace, simply known as “J,” has vowed to starve herself until American Idol contestant, Sanjaya Malakar is voted off.

Carrie Underwood will join a short list of country stars who have appeared on “Saturday Night Live” when she performs on the show on March 24. Other country artists who have visited the show are Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, the Dixie Chicks, Keith Urban, Dolly Parton and Randy Travis.

Carrie will sing hits from her debut album Some Hearts, which has sold five million copies to date. Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning will host the show.

In Carrie’s short career since winning “American Idol” in May 2005, she has garnered two Grammy Awards, two Country Music Association Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, two People’s Choice Awards, eight Billboard Awards and more. She will spend time in the studio this spring recording her sophomore album, due out later this year.

American Idol loses its first superstar of this season, Antonella Barba; time to bet how long it will take Playboy to get her to pose nude.

The unthinkable happened last night. Antonella Barba got voted out from American Idol. “So many memories, too many, I can’t even think about it now,” Barba said. “So many memories, but great ones.”

Antonella became American Idol season 6 first superstar not thanks to her singing performances, ranging between horrible and catastrophic, but due to her racy pictures and nude photos that surface on the Internet hours after her first appearance on the show.

Antonella’s nude photos soon became Internet’s most wanted pictures. Male fans and the fine folks of votefortheworst.com managed to keep her in the race until last night.

Will Antonella Barba simply fade away? Don’t bet on it. Playboy’s Hug Hefner said he was considering making her an offer to pose nude for the men’s magazine. Playmate may also join the bid to get Antonella to pose.

American Idol fans salute Antonella’s departure as a sign that the competition is now back on track and focus returns on the best performers.

Antonella Barba is still in American Idol for all the wrong reasons. Her singing is mediocre and yet she insists on choosing songs that are way too big for her squeaky voice to handle. Unless you have been living under a rock, Antonella Barba has been in the news and at the top of search engines since pictures of her frollicking semi-nude at parties began circulating on the internet.

In 2003, American Idol disqualified Frenchie Davis after a similar incident and Rosie O’Donnell is calling American Idol racist. Didn’t Rosie O’Donnell herself come under fire for racist remarks which she tried to play down not so long ago? I’m no Antonella Barba fan but there is a huge difference between Frenchie Davis posing commercially and Antonella Barba’s personal pictures being posted online.

Still, Antonella Barba won’t be out of a job if America does the right thing and votes her off American Idol because Girls Gone Wild has offered her a hosting job. She should retain whatever dignity she still has and take it.
